Faye grew up on the Saskatchewan prairies and came to the ocean in her thirties. Her part of the story is caregiving, entrepreneurship, travel and the candid experience of learning to live and sail on moving water.

We came to sailing through a shared appetite for travel, learning and the kind of challenge that refuses to stay theoretical.
Where it began
Mexico, 2005.
Ryan and Faye met in Bucerías, near Puerto Vallarta, and discovered a shared enthusiasm for flying, the ocean and seeing what lay beyond the next familiar place.
The sailing plan arrived later. It was less a tidy career transition than a decision to become beginners again—learning a boat, living with weather and discovering the world at the speed of a passage.

Ryan brought twenty-nine years as a professional pilot and a career in business to a different kind of cockpit. The habits transfer—preparation, systems thinking and honest debriefing—but sailing continues to supply new lessons.

Because memory has a habit of keeping the sunset and losing the three hours spent fixing the pump. Lucky Enough is the whole story: the landfalls, the wrong turns, the new friends, the maintenance stops and the moments that made every hard mile worthwhile.
